What Is An Energy Performance Certificate?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) measures the energy performance of the building
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) measures the energy performance of the building based on the type of property, age of the property, walls, wall insulation, type of heating system, type of heating controls, amount of loft insulation, type of glazing and the types of secondary heating your home has, such as gas or electric fires. The survey is carried out at the property by a fully accredited Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) who records the information and then generates the report through accredited software, which in turn generates the EPC. The EPC is then available to view by everyone on a national EPC Register.

The EPC will give an associated rating (A-G) based on how energy efficient your home is and will also identify any shortcomings at the property. The EPC will then suggest improvements with the associated costs and enhanced energy rating for these improvements where they are found.
